[It's a little unnerving, the way Anthy looks at her. So many of the people she knows are open books, but Anthy's expressions are so hard to read, or like she's looking right through Maya, and Maya's first instinct is to think she's disappointed -- which causes her to deflate even further]
[But it's possible Maya has more in common with Anthy than she'd thought. From the way her eyes widen at the hand-holding, from the full out "deer in headlights" look Anthy's words earn her, it's almost like Maya doesn't know how to process real kindness and faith directed at her. Funny, for someone who makes it a point to be optimistic and encourage everyone around her]
[That's what Anthy says instead of laughing at Maya, although it's tempting. It'd be like kicking a puppy. And she does like Maya, somehow, improbably. She doesn't want to hurt her. At least not right now. Maybe later.]
I believe that you'll try until there's nothing left to try, and then . . . keep trying, probably. You have a big heart.

I guess so. [She does try a lot, and she's very stubborn, (and she knows it) so Anthy's assessment is pretty spot-on. Maya doesn't particularly think she has a big heart, but that's Maya]
